| Disabling Content Advisor in Internet Explorer (IE) 4 or 5 if you have forgotten the Password
that was previously setup.
To take care of this issue, you will have to edit some settings in the registry. It is HIGHLY recommended that you read through the steps BEFORE implementing them. The registry is one of the key areas of Windows. One miss-step and you may have to do a full quick restore to recover. Click Start/Run and type REGEDIT When Registry Editor opens, you will need to click on the following keys. HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Ratings Delete that key. (Click on the content of that key on the right side of the Registry Editor Window once. Then hit the delete key on the keyboard. The program will ask for confirmation, making sure that you really want to remove that entry. Click on 'yes'.) This will set the Content Advisor Password to blank. Now you can go in and disable the ratings or just leave it alone if you are not planning on using it. If you want to make sure Content Advisor is totally disabled, delete EVERY key within the "Ratings" folder in the registry. |
