| This is a "fix" copied from the PCPitstop User-to-user forum, reported by user bluescout on
3/1/09... I am running Xp Home Sp1. I too could not install certain updates, they would download but fail to install. I asked for support from Microsoft, and after 2 weeks and corresponding with 2 different Techs, the problem was solved. The reason the updates won't install on your system could, however, be different than mine were. My problem was with the Catroot2 folder, they had me delete it, and I was able to install the updates again. Click C:/Windows/System 32/Catroot2 Like I said this solved the problem for me, If you decide to try it it might be a good idea to create a restore point to be on the safe side. blue |
